GSoC 2026 proposal discussion and feedback on reducing Jenkins user friction using AI-assisted tooling.

Hello everyone,

I’m Shivaansh, a computer science student making my first contribution to Jenkins.

Hi, I’m interested in contributing to Jenkins for the Google Summer of Code 2026, and I have an idea for a proposal to improve the user experience for Jenkins users using AI-based tooling.
At a high level, I am investigating ideas such as:

  • Increasing user experience through ease of understanding errors, configuration, or pipeline

  • Leverage AI-assisted toolsets to reduce onboarding and troubleshooting friction

  • Integrating these toolings in a manner that is conducive to Jenkins’ current architecture and traditions
I am currently going through the contribution guidelines written by Jenkins and becoming familiar with the code, and I would certainly appreciate receiving feedback on the following as soon as possible:

  • How well does this problem space align with Jenkins’ GSoC goals

  • Any existing efforts/constraints I should be aware of - Suggestions on refining the scope into a strong GSoC proposal. Looking forward to learning from the community.
    Thanks!

Hi @shivaansh0610-LUFFY welcome to the Jenkins community! For a list of our GSoC 2026 project ideas on offer you can check out GSoC 2026 Project Ideas . We would only consider the ideas in this list and not anything outside of these though. And to prepare for GSoC for Jenkins, you can refer to the Contribute code doc.
