I’m Jaishree Verma, a student interested in applying for GSoC 2026 for the project “Continue AI Powered Chatbot for Quick Access to Jenkins Resources”.
I’ve started exploring the codebase and made my first contribution:
This fixes the no-op stub in search_stackoverflow_threads that was always returning hardcoded “Nothing relevant”, adds the missing keywords and logger parameters to match the interface of other tools, and adds unit tests that were missing for the tools module.
I’m currently exploring more issues in the codebase and working on my proposal. Happy to receive any feedback on my PR or guidance on what to focus on next.
Looking forward to feedback from @krisstern and @berviantoleo and the rest of the mentor team.
Hello jaishree! when did you join the gsoc 2026, because i created prs to the project which is not in the gsoc 2026. Could you please suggest me a compatible project which would lead in 2-3 merged prs.
Hy Kushagra! Actually, I was bit late to contribute to PR’s but then I searched AI Based Projects and got to know about Jenkins. Since I have AI and Jenkins background so choose the Continue AI Powered Chatbot. and for suggestion I would say that in this project there are some PR’s that needed java-spring boot connection you can try that or if you have any interest domain apart from java developer an emerging technology go for that since you have very less time. Even in Jenkins there are other projects you can definitely check that out.
HeyY Jaishree! Thanks for the kind words and suggestions! I’m sticking with the Jenkins Email Notifications using Outlook SMTP with OAuth project. Good luck with the Continue AI-Powered Chatbot project — that sounds like a great fit for your background!
It will be the best when you have a look at issues under gsoc-2026 (except the Authentication part). But, I didn’t ask to work on it right now. It’s not necessarily the quantity of your PRs. We will place more value on the quality of each PR.
Write your best proposal, ensuring it has a good structure. If you would like to discuss the ideas, feel free to ask.
Ensure the proposal is quite balanced between high-level (non-technical) and low-level (technical) language. Some reviewers of the proposal may not have a deep knowledge of the technical terms.
I appreciate the clarification on prioritizing PR quality over quantity. I’ll start looking into the issues under the gsoc-2026 tag (excluding Authentication) to get a better feel for the project’s needs. I’ll also keep the balance between technical and non-technical language in mind while drafting my proposal.
I look forward to sharing an initial draft with you soon. Thanks again!
