Hi mentors,
My name is Yahia Elkawas, and I am a 3rd-year student in the Artificial Intelligence Department at Cairo University. I am very excited to express my interest in contributing to the Jenkins community for GSoC 2026, specifically focusing on the “Plugin Modernizer Stats Visualization” project.
I bring a diverse technical background that spans web development, AI, and cybersecurity:
-
Full-Stack Web Development: I have extensive experience building applications with React.js, TypeScript, Next.js, and Node.js. Notable projects include a full-stack e-commerce platform and a RESTful API built with Express.js that parses NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope data to identify habitable exoplanets.
-
Artificial Intelligence (AI & LLMs): My academic specialization is in Agentic AI and Large Language Models (LLMs). I have hands-on experience in fine-tuning models using LLaMA-Factory and Hugging Face Transformers, and I have also developed a Computer Vision project for diagnosing Pneumonia from chest X-rays.
-
Cybersecurity: I am an active Security Researcher on HackerOne, where I have successfully identified critical IDOR vulnerabilities and high-severity configuration issues. I believe this security-first mindset is essential when building dashboards that visualize modernization data impacting the stability and security of the Jenkins ecosystem.
I chose the Plugin Modernizer Stats Visualization project because it represents the perfect intersection of my skills in data processing, advanced UI development with Vite and TypeScript, and my interest in improving DevOps lifecycle visibility.
I have already started exploring the metadata-plugin-modernizer repository to understand the structure of the collected metadata and how it can be transformed into clear, actionable reports for maintainers.
I am looking forward to discussing my ideas with the mentors and receiving your feedback.
