GSoC 2026 — Introduction & Interest in Documentation Retooling

Hi everyone!

My name is Fatima, a 2nd year Computer Science student from Algeria. I came across the Jenkins GSoC 2026 projects and I’m really interested in the Documentation Sites Retooling project.

I have experience with Java, Python, and C from my university coursework, and I have recently started my open-source journey. I believe good documentation is what makes a project truly accessible, and I’d love to contribute to making Jenkins more welcoming for new users and contributors.

This is my first time applying to GSoC and I’m excited to learn! I’d really appreciate any guidance on how to get started. Are there any good first issues I could look at, or any tips for writing a strong proposal?

Thank you so much!

Hey Fatima,
I’ve written a tiny blog related to first steps in Open Source,Have a look, hope it may help: Your First Steps Into the Jenkins Community
Thanks.

Thank you so much for this, I really appreciate it! I’ll read through it right away. I’ve already submitted my GSoC proposal for the Documentation Retooling project. I’m really excited about the opportunity to contribute to Jenkins! Looking forward to learning from the community!
