About Me
My name is Fatima Bou, a 2nd year Computer Science student at Tahri Mohamed university, Algeria. I have hands-on experience with Java, Python, and C through my university coursework. I recently began my open source journey and have started building projects on GitHub at [ shescripts1 · GitHub ] . I am motivated, eager to learn, and committed to growing as a developer through real-world contributions.
The Problem
Jenkins is one of the most widely used CI/CD platforms in the world, yet its documentation can be difficult to navigate, especially for newcomers. Outdated content, inconsistent formatting, and poor structure create unnecessary barriers for users trying to get started and for contributors trying to understand the project. This slows both adoption and community growth.
My Proposed Solution
I propose to contribute to retooling the Jenkins documentation sites by:
-
Auditing the existing documentation structure and identifying pain points
-
Improving navigation, formatting consistency, and readability
-
Fixing broken links and outdated content
-
Working closely with mentors to prioritize the highest impact improvements
I will approach this systematically, starting with a thorough audit before making any changes, ensuring every contribution is deliberate and reviewable.
Availability
I am available full time from May 25 to August 18, 2026. I have no major exams or conflicts during this period and can commit 30–35 hours per week to the project. My timezone is UTC+1 (Algeria).
Why This Project
As someone who is new to open source, I know firsthand how confusing poor documentation can be. I spent hours trying to understand projects simply because the docs weren’t clear enough. I want to use that fresh perspective to make Jenkins more welcoming for the next wave of contributors — people just like me who are eager to contribute but need a clear path to do so.
Why Jenkins
Jenkins has one of the most active and welcoming communities in open source. After introducing myself on the community forum and reading through the project, I genuinely believe this is where I can make a meaningful contribution while growing as a developer.
