Minutes:

  • Modernizing plugins initiative - Mark
    • Continuing development work. Development is centered on Google doc. JMM and Mark are working on this.
    • Will review more next wk during Jenkins docs office hours
    • Hope to merge before XMas due to 2 phases:
      • Phase 1 is for contributors who are not yet plugin maintainers
      • Phase 2 is for maintainters
  • Upcoming events and planning - Alyssa
    • FOSDEM Feb 5-6, 2022
      • A formal announcement is yet to be made, but it is very unlikely that there will be a stand component at FOSDEM 2022.
      • CI/CD DevRoom CFP - deadline Dec 27, 2021
    • SCALE 19x - March 3-6, 2022
      • AT: Awaiting confirmation from CloudBees wrt training sponsorship
  • Google Summer of Code 2022
    • Thread started on Discourse. Call for org admins, project ideas/mentors
      • Feb 2022 - Project registration open
      • April 2022 - project contributor registration open.
    • AT: My goal is to have project ideas & mentors lined up by February.

  • Jenkins online meetups:
    • Etienne Studer of Gradle Enterprise - find ways to improve performance of tests for Jenkins. Gradle Enterprise has tool that may help us avoid running some tests.
    • Kohsuke Kawaguchi of Launchable willing to do separate JOM w/ similar theme (as above). Mark would like to join this discussion.
      • Launchable is heavily focus on finding ways to choose which test you should run.
    • Ulli Hafner (along w/ Mark Waite, Jean-Marc Meessen, Darin Pope) on dev environment setup - shooting for wk of Jan 24
  • Moving content from Jenkinsistheway.io to jenkins.io - Gavin Mogan will review and see how he can help.
  • Next meeting: Dec 30 propose to cancel
    • Dec 30 meeting is cancel as most of us will be out of office
