  • Raj discuss Discourse for She Code Africa (Layer 5 project)
    • Layer 5 mentor in Contributhon
      • Discussion forums
        • Leader board to encourage contributions to Discourse site
          • Willing to share it?
          • Gavin didn’t find that on our system
        • New contributor documentation hosted on Discourse
          • Discourse focused or whole project focused?
            • Will it describe how to submit pull requests (or other examples of contribution outside Discourse
      • Is Discourse being used for primary documentation or additional
        • On each GitHub repo today in various README files
        • Discourse allows them to unify guides
          • Currently in the Slack channels
    • Consider automatic linking of pipeline step reference to docs site
      • Based on known keywords, replace with a link (selective words)
      • Not ready to make Discourse our project content management system
    • Experimenting with a discussion group on Discourse in Jenkins
      • Are they using it to ping (tag) interested people? Yes
      • Not sure it replaces mailing list (delivery preference)
      • Gavin’s research on the press contacts email replacement
        • Configuration of own account controls most
        • GSoC automatically notifies every post
        • Notification of each post
        • User specific notification configuration in Discourse
        • Smooth use of either Discourse form or email message
          • Can connect Discourse to a read-only archive list
      • Less likely to have a spam folder inadvertently getting Discourse groups
      • Chat integration with Discourse has worked well for Jenkins
    • Acting as mentor for She Code Africa

    • Site is largely complete and is online at https://stories.jenkins.io
      • Case studies vs. user stories are different, some refinement happening
      • All user stories are imported
      • Currently includes navigation from page to page
    • Content is done and imported
    • Map is working and links to existing stories
      • New stories appear on the map
      • Case studies to be added after parsing
    • Netlify Content Management System for easier content creation
      • Content management system much easier, creates GitHub pull requests
      • Includes a preview site in the GitHub pull request workflow
  • Remove Jenkins is the Way on jumbotron
    • Mark Waiteto remove the JITW image
  • Ukraine invasion by Russia and the Jenkins project

    • 4 project proposals received in Google webapp:

      • Jenkinsfile Runner Action for GitHub Actions
      • Pipeline Step Documentation Generator Improvements
    • Upcoming milestones:
      • Draft proposal review by mentors due April 9
      • Contributor application period April 4-19
      • Mentor grading period April 20-30
      • Org Admins submit ranked contributor slots to Google: May 12
      • Google tells Orgs how many projects they will receive: May 19
    • She Code Africa Contributhon has started
      • 7 contributors for 6 weeks, started April 5
      • 1st meeting was today
      • Use Slack as the primary communication channel
      • 3 project: inclusive naming, pipeline help, screenshot update and 1 project manager acting as Mark’s right hand person
      • Need more mentors, best situated out of Europe as time aligns w/ contributor’s time.

      • Jenkins award nominations open until April 11
      • Contributor summit, AT hoping we can move this up to Thursday June 9
