📣 Starting Jenkins Newcomers Online Meetup

:waving_hand: Hello Jenkins Community!

We’re excited to announce a pilot launch of the Jenkins Newcomers Meet, an initiative focused on making the Jenkins community more inclusive, friendly, and accessible to everyone, especially those just getting started.

:seedling: What is the Jenkins Newcomers Meet?

This is a beginner-friendly session where we’ll help newcomers get a solid foothold in the Jenkins ecosystem. The goal is to explain the basics clearly, guide people on how to start contributing, and share useful resources to grow within the community. As new contributors are the future of any community, we will give our best to help you get started and providing all the resources.

:pushpin: What we’ll cover

  • What is Jenkins?

  • What is CI/CD and why it matters

  • How Jenkins is used in DevOps

  • How to get started as a newcomer

  • How and where you can contribute (both code & non-code)

  • Jenkins meetings, SIGs, and community structure

  • Useful links, docs, and resources for beginners

No prior Jenkins experience is required, and there’s no “too late” to join :slightly_smiling_face:

:spiral_calendar: Meeting Frequency

  • Every 2 weeks (starting from 13th January 2026)

:memo: Suggestions

Tell us what else you would want us to cover in the meet here - https://forms.gle/CN3Ykzq8PHfWr8GL7

:studio_microphone: Upcoming: Live Guest Sessions

In addition to the newcomers meet, we would be having live interview sessions with experienced Jenkins contributors and plugin maintainers (e.g. long-time maintainers and community leaders).

These sessions will:

  • Be live & interactive

  • Be recorded

  • Be uploaded to YouTube

  • Help newcomers learn directly from experienced contributors

:loudspeaker: More details (date/time/links) will be shared soon!

If you’re new to Jenkins, or want to help others get started, we’d love to see you there :blue_heart:
