Issues with Intel vPro and Jenkins – Any Advice?

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering some issues when using Jenkins on systems with Intel vPro, and I’m seeking advice from those who might have experience with this setup.

Here’s a brief overview of the problems:

  1. Performance Issues: Jenkins seems to be underperforming on Intel vPro systems, with slower build times and occasional lag during high-load operations.
  2. Compatibility Concerns: There appear to be compatibility issues between Jenkins and Intel vPro features, which may be causing unexpected errors and integration problems.
  3. Configuration Challenges: Configuring Jenkins to work smoothly with Intel vPro has been challenging. Despite following best practices, there are some persistent configuration issues affecting performance and stability.

Steps I’ve Taken So Far:

  • Updated Software: Ensured that both Jenkins and Intel vPro firmware are up to date.
  • Adjusted Configurations: Reviewed and tweaked system settings and Jenkins configurations, but issues remain.
  • Consulted Documentation: Checked official documentation for both Jenkins and Intel vPro without finding a clear solution.

If anyone has dealt with similar issues or has tips on optimizing Jenkins with Intel vPro, I’d greatly appreciate your input.

Thanks in advance for any advice or insights!

You need to provide more details to provide reproduction:

  • What version of Jenkins?
  • What OS and package (are you running Jenkins with Docker, official Linux package, Windows installer, etc.)?
  • What is the exact hardware / virtualization settings?
  • What java version ?
  • What are the Jenkins plugins (exhaustive list with version) ?
  • How is Jenkins setup? Ideally a JCasC export (with credentials removed) to allow us understand your setup

We are using Azure Xeon based virtual server (with vPro) and we see no evidence of any issue or low performance. Without any details it’s hard to confirm your case is not related to something else
