[GSOC 2026] Kunda Venkatesh -Intoduction

Hi all !!!

My name is Venkatesh, a 3rd year BTech student in Computer Science. I came across Jenkins while exploring DevOps and GSoC opportunities, and I’m genuinely excited about contributing here.I’m really interested in what Jenkins is doing.Looking forward to work with all the members !!

A bit about my technical background:

java is my primary language — comfortable with OOP, Collections, and Maven basics
Currently learning DevOps
Comfortable with Git and GitHub
Installed Jenkins locally and explored the UI and pipelines
Familiar with CI/CD concepts and currently going deeper

Why Jenkins
Jenkins sits right at the intersection of Java and DevOps — both of which I’m actively building skills in. I want to contribute to a tool that real developers use every day, not just a side project. Jenkins felt like the most meaningful place to start.

What I’m looking for:
Guidance on newbie-friendly issues suitable for a Java beginner contributor*
Understanding which parts of the codebase are good starting points*
Advice on how to prepare for GSoC with Jenkins*

Welcome Venkatesh, great to see your enthusiasm! Your Java plus DevOps background is a solid fit for Jenkins. Best first steps: browse the newbie-friendly labeled issues on GitHub, get comfortable building a plugin locally, and hang around the developer mailing list and chat. Engaging early with mentors and submitting a small real PR before proposals open counts for a lot in GSoC. Good luck, you’re on the right track.
