[GSoC 2025] Interested in Jenkins Success Stories UI/UX project - Questions about requirements

Hello!

I just discovered the GSoC 2025 program today and I’m really excited about the “Revamping Jenkins.io Website Success Stories Feature” project as I love UI/UX design.

I know registration opens tomorrow, and I’m wondering if it’s too late to start? I haven’t had a chance to interact with any mentors or the community yet, but I’m really eager to work on this project.

I’ve been exploring the current Jenkins Success Stories section and noticed several opportunities for improving the user experience and visual design. I’m passionate about creating intuitive interfaces that effectively showcase important content like user testimonials.

While my strongest skills are in UI/UX design, I also have coding abilities. I’m curious about the technical balance of this particular project - how much focuses on design versus implementation? This would help me highlight the most relevant skills in my proposal.

I’ve started researching the Jenkins website architecture to understand how I can best implement potential UI/UX improvements. I’d appreciate any guidance on the specific technical stack used for this particular section and what skills would be most valuable to focus on.

This is my first time applying to GSoC, so I’m honestly a bit nervous, but also super excited about the opportunity to contribute to an open-source project like Jenkins! Looking forward to learning from this community and hopefully being part of the process.

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to this community, @Naya. :waving_hand:

It’s great to hear about your interest in the “Revamping Jenkins.io Website Success Stories Feature” project! I’m glad to assure you that it’s not too late to start. Mentors will be reviewing proposals until April 1st, so you still have time to put together a strong proposal.

While familiarity with the Jenkins community, project, and working methods certainly strengthens a proposal, submitting one is a valuable experience regardless of the outcome. If your proposal isn’t accepted this time, you’re encouraged to continue contributing. This will help you build your Jenkins and open source skills for future opportunities, such as the next GSoC.

Regarding the technical stack and specific questions you might have, I recommend visiting our GSoC Gitter channel. It’s a great place to ask questions and gain insights from the community.

Best of luck, and we’re excited to see what you bring to the project!
