Quick question on the “Future” features for the AI Chatbot plugin

Hey everyone,

I have been one of the contributor for the project “Jenkins AI Chatbot Plugin” and fixed and handled some of the issues, but some bunch of issues and PRs where the maintainers basically said “let’s hold this for now” or “this is for future.” you know, stuff like the advanced GraphRAG stuff, the agentic debugging, or deeper RBAC integration.

Honestly, I think we might be holding off on things people actually need and we also don’t want to delay the ones that would actually help you guys.

some i thought of questions this:

  1. Which of these “held” features would actually help you? Like, is the agentic debugging a blocker for your team, or is it just a “nice to have”?
  2. Are you stuck waiting on anything? If there’s a specific feature we put on hold that you really need right now, let us know.
  3. Contribution: If we decide to tackle one of these “held” items next, we are ready(community members (students or professionals)) willing to help with testing, documentation, or even contributing code!! so what on that?

We want to make sure our roadmap reflects the actual pain points of the users. Please let us know which of these “future” features you would love to see prioritized in the next release.

Thanks for your continued support! @berviantoleo @krisstern @cnu1812 in the project repo and great feedback in gitter and also in issue comments..

I appreciate your interest. Your contribution is valuable. We preserved those ideas as a GSoC project; if you need an explanation about what it is, please let us know.

As those ideas/issues are quite big changes, we need proper planning before executing them. Of course, we don’t want to hold any contributions, as we really appreciate any contributions.

The maintainers are not full-time on this repo, or have limited time to review, if the issue was worked on in one PR, it will be really hard for us to review.

Authentication integration is a big work, it’s open for any contributions, but I need to assess it carefully before any execution. Some opened PR looks good as a foundation, but I still need to test it carefully.

@berviantoleo ,

thank you for the quick and clear response. This really matters alot to me. Totally get that maintainers don’t have unlimited time and also big changes do need proper planning.

Iam definitely interested in helping out, whether it’s with testing, docs, or evenone of those GSoC related features. if there’s a specific way you would like contributors to get involved (like joining a discussion thread, reviewing PRs, or something else), am ready to work…

also, if there’s a particular area (like auth integration or GraphRAG) where you could need some feedbacks anything like that,it will be my pleasure to be at your word..

Thank u again,
