Jenkins "helo" string on sending mail

Hello,
find below my current setup.
Main Question:
“How can I modify the hostname string sent to the “helo” string on connecting to a mail server?”
Current situation:
In a pipeline I have this as a failure action:

        failure {
            mail to: "***@***.**",
            subject: "ERROR: ${currentBuild.fullDisplayName}",
            mimeType: 'text/html',
            body: "Check<br>${env.build_URL}<br>for errors."
        }

The job comes to that point and initiates the mail sending process but is rejected by the mail server because of the HELO host check:

[Pipeline] mail
Error when executing success post condition:
com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPAddressFailedException: 450 4.7.1 <dersapp007>: Helo command rejected: Host not found

	at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.rcptTo(SMTPTransport.java:1931)

You can see, that the Jenkins server sends its pure hostname not the fqdn to the mailer, which is then not able to resolve that hostname to a fqdn.
According to the /etc/mailname file, it is set to its FQDN, so Jenkins does not use the local sendmail/postfix on its host.
Where do I find the parameter for that string and how do I modify it to a FQDN?

Jenkins setup:

Welcome back @inoculator, :wave:

To modify the hostname string sent to the “helo” string on connecting to a mail server, can’t you use the System Admin e-mail address field in the Jenkins system configuration?

As far as I know, this field is used as the sender of emails, but it’s also used as the HELO/EHLO name when Jenkins connects to an SMTP server.
