Jenkins failing to load all plugins after server reboot. ( not able to access web panel because of stack trace)

Hello Team,

I restarted our jenkins server after months of usage to update our JKS file ( to update SSL ). however, once the server came up and I tried to start Jenkins via our usual startup script all plugins were failing to load and the web panel had a huge stack trace complaining about active directory plugin. however, the problem is with all plugins but the page is only showing the first one. I spent hours trying to fix it and failed, I was trying to get to a state where I can get to the web panel and export all our jobs nodes …

Please note that the person that installed and maintained jenkins left our company so the server didn’t get any updates in almost two years (version 2.222.4 Windows)

any help is greatly appreciated !

here’s the error:

Hello @Paradoxal1 and welcome to this community

To me, the error message you encountered could indicate that there is an issue with loading the Active Directory plugin in Jenkins, which could prevent the other plugins from loading as well.

It’s maybe time to verify plugin compatibility: make sure that the Active Directory plugin version you have installed is compatible with your Jenkins version (2.222.4).
Check the plugin documentation or release notes to ensure compatibility. If there are known compatibility issues, consider downgrading or upgrading either the plugin or Jenkins to achieve a compatible combination.

I see another - more mid-term - option: start another Jenkins instance based on the LTS release line and try to migrate your pipelines to it little by little.

Hello @poddingue

The server was installed long time ago and never received any update. therefore, I just decided to roll a new server and migrated everything over as directed on your reply.

Thanks for your reply and assistance.
