Is there any consequences if we update the plugin repository name which is under jenkinci org?

Basically I have 2 things to clarify regarding plugin repository name update from jenkinsci org -

  1. Can the maintainers of the plugin update the repository name from jenkinsci org? I see there is a edit option but want to confirm if it will work fine or not.
  2. If we update the plugin repository name from jenkinsci org, will there be any consequences? Like will there be any effect on the current production plugin in the marketplace or any other side effects that we can be aware of before updating the repo name?
