[GSoC 2026 Introduction] Salix Kurmayev – WinSW Modernization (C# / .NET)

Hi Jenkins community and mentors!

My name is Salix Kurmayev. I am a backend developer from Tashkent,
Uzbekistan with nearly four years of commercial experience in C# and
.NET. I hold a controller’s degree in Solution Architecture from IT Park
University. I am applying for GSoC 2026 and I am very interested in
the WinSW Modernization project.

About my background:

  • Currently working on a high-load RAGE MP game server (GTA
multiplayer modification) built with C# and microservices
architecture, serving concurrent players in production
  • Built a microservice e-commerce platform with .NET as my thesis
project, including an ML.NET-based adaptive rate limiting component
  • Experience with ASP.NET Web API, Entity Framework Core, async/await
    patterns, LINQ, and Git

Why WinSW interests me:
WinSW is a tool I find genuinely useful. The challenge of modernizing
a mature C# codebase — migrating to modern .NET, improving the
configuration system, and enhancing test coverage — aligns well with
the kind of backend work I do daily. I have already cloned the
repository and started reviewing the codebase and open issues.

I would love to connect with mentors to better understand the project
scope and priorities for 2026. I am available for office hours and
committed to being active on Discourse throughout the program.

Thank you for your time!
Salix
