Hii community, I’m Jayananden, an MSc Computer Science student at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. Before my masters I worked as a Software Engineer, where I built and maintained CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Gerrit and JFrog Artifactory for an automotive infotainment team.
I am interested in the “Use OpenTelemetry for Jenkins Jobs on ci jenkins io” project for GSoC, because it addresses the monitoring gap of pipelines running with limited visibility into how individual stages perform and where failures occur across agents or nodes.
The project description mentions deeper monitoring of specific jobs, are there particular job types (freestyle/standalone, pipeline, multi-branch) that are of the priority target?
As for the GSoC scope, is the primary deliverable the OTel Collector configuration and backend setup or does it also include extending the existing plugin?
