When i try to find the value of something that is stored in a variable, I am getting the following error. can someone please help me in this
variable - bash: $’
': command not found
134uhi235

the code is written to get the value from the output -
output be like -
variable - 134uhi235

code in the pipeline is:
variable=$(sshpass -p "password" ssh -tt user@hostname "\ path -version 2>&1 | awk '/variable / {sub(/.*- /, \"\"); print \$1}' ; ")

The command you’re trying to run is enclosed in double quotes ("), which means that any variables or special characters within the double quotes will be interpreted by the shell before the command is run.

This could be causing issues if there are any special characters in your command.
One possible solution would be to use single quotes (') instead of double quotes for the command.

This should prevent the shell from interpreting any variables or special characters within the command.
Here’s how you could maybe modify your pipeline script:

pipeline {
    agent any
    stages {
        stage('Get variable') {
            steps {
                script {
                    def variable = sh(script: 'sshpass -p "password" ssh -tt user@hostname \'path -version 2>&1 | awk \'/variable / {sub(/.*- /, ""); print $1}\'\'', returnStdout: true).trim()
                    echo "The value of variable is: ${variable}"
                }
            }
        }
    }
}

Please note that storing passwords in plain text in your scripts is not a good practice as it poses a security risk. Consider using Jenkins credentials or secret text to securely store your password.

I am using s.sh file inside
stage(‘Hello’) {
steps {
dir(‘/path’){
echo ‘Hello World’
sh “s.sh”
echo “out of script”
}
}
}

Then I am running this command inside s.sh
