# Jenkins.log issue

Hi all,

> I noticed that in our Jenkins environment, the default `jenkins.log` file is missing from the `/var/log/jenkins` directory. This has made it challenging for us to troubleshoot certain issues and monitor Jenkins activity effectively.

The Jenkins service on Linux has moved from System V init to systemd in March 2022 as announced in the [Jenkins blog post](https://www.jenkins.io/blog/2022/03/25/systemd-migration/). That changes the log location to match `systemd` standard logging practices.
