Hi Jenkins community,

I’m Juwon Lee, a backend developer from South Korea, applying for GSoC 2026 with the “Use OpenTelemetry for Jenkins Jobs on `ci.jenkins.io`” project.

About me:

- Built a conversational AI agent for microservice incident diagnosis, integrating distributed log tracing and error pattern analysis (Spring Boot + Spring AI + custom MCP server, Docker Compose). Debugging without proper tracing was the hardest part — this is exactly the problem I want to solve for Jenkins pipelines.
- Designed observability pipeline architecture (Fluent Bit → Kafka → anomaly detection) for a distributed ops platform. This gave me a clear picture of how telemetry data flows from source to visualization — the same architecture I plan to bring to `ci.jenkins.io`.
- Experienced with Prometheus + Actuator for service metrics collection — directly applicable to Jenkins job metrics.
- Open source: Ubuntu Korea — Korean translation of Ubuntu Code of Conduct v2.0 (ubuntu-kr/disclosures PR #24, merged)

I have been reviewing the jenkinsci/opentelemetry-plugin codebase and have a few questions to better scope my proposal:

1. What is the current state of OpenTelemetry integration on `ci.jenkins.io` and `infra.ci.jenkins.io`?
2. Are there specific job types the Infra team wants to prioritize for monitoring first?
3. Is there a preferred OpenTelemetry Collector deployment approach for `ci.jenkins.io` infrastructure?

I am working on my proposal and would appreciate any guidance from the mentors.
