GSoC 2026 - Introduction - Shri Raj Bisaria

Hey everyone,

I’m Shri Raj Bisaria, a CS undergrad. I mostly work with Java and backend stuff , build systems, Git workflows, that kind of thing. Got into open source about a year ago and have been spending more time on it lately.

I’ve been contributing to Jenkins core this past week. Here’s what I’ve worked on:

  • PR #26354 — Record type support in XStream2 (records were crashing during deserialization)

  • PR #26361 — Performance fix for the Manage Old Data page (added caching)

  • PR #26364 — Missing “Keep this build forever” button in the new build page

  • PR #26353 — Lowering agent ping interval to prevent reverse proxy timeouts

I’m interested in the Retool Jenkins.io Contributor Spotlight project for GSoC 2026. The current spotlight section could use a refresh and I think there’s room to make it more useful for the community. Would love to hear from the mentors about what direction they’re thinking for this.

After exploring the project ideas more, I’m shifting my focus to the Outlook SMTP OAuth project instead of Contributor Spotlight. My Jenkins core PRs are in serialization and plugin internals, which fits the email-ext plugin work better than a frontend migration.

I’ve also opened a PR on the contributor-spotlight repo (jenkins-infra/contributor-spotlight#528) while I was looking into it, so that’s still there.

Would love to connect with @slide_o_mix about what the mentors are looking for in the OAuth implementation.

@slide_o_mix @krisstern Hi, I’ve been working on a draft proposal for this project. Here’s the Google Doc link if anyone has a chance to take a look: GSOC PROPOSAL 2026 - Shri raj bisaria - Google Docs

I’ve also been contributing to the email-ext plugin and Jenkins core in the meantime → PRs linked in the proposal.
