- Spring Security 6.x Update
  - Jenkins weekly 2.475 and 2.476 use Spring Security 6
    - Switches from Spring Security 5 to 6
    - Switches from Java EE 8 to Jakarta EE 9
    - Switches from Jetty 10 to Jetty EE 9
    - Maintains compatibility (mostly)
      - Few plugins like LDAP that must be lockstep upgrade

  - Next LTS baseline selected 18 Sep 2024
    - 2.477, 2.476, or 2.475 all possible candidates (no major issues)

- Hacktoberfest preparation (1 - 31 Oct 2024)
  - Identifying [good first issues](https://github.com/jenkins-infra/jenkins.io/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3A%22good+first+issue%22) in Jenkins documentation (currently 4)
    - Criteria
      - Useful to Jenkins
      - Well suited to a new contributor

    - Need to review the issues and assign “good first issue” label
    - Kevin is reviewing further to find other good first issues

  - Identifying [friendly issues](https://issues.jenkins.io/secure/Dashboard.jspa?selectPageId=19342) in Jenkins Jira (currently 50)
    - Criteria
      - Useful to Jenkins
      - Well suited to a new contributor
      - Part of an actively maintained component
        - Not up for adoption
        - If a new contributor submits to an unmaintained plugin, their pull request is ignored
        - Part of a component that has the hacktoberfest topic

    - Some samples that have lots of work that can be spread widely
      - Test coverage improvement

        - [JENKINS-69756](https://issues.jenkins.io/browse/JENKINS-69756) - Node label parameter plugin
